Inspectors from the education watchdog returned to Wilfred Owen Primary School in Monkmoor in November after it was deemed to 'require improvement' in 2022.

The school's 'quality of education' was its downfall during its previous inspection and led to the grading. However, during the recent report, the sub-area has been graded 'good' by inspectors alongside the school's behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management and early years provision.

The school, part of Empower Trust, was praised for setting high expectations for pupils' achievement.

The report said that personal development is at the "heart of the school’s provision", and that pupils learn about inspiring role models "such as a black female fighter pilot, and discuss tolerance and respect for others in their lessons and assemblies".
