Shropshire Council's Northern Planning Committee will be asked to approve changes to the authority's commitment to deal with the amount of carbon which will be created in the construction of the controversial road.
It comes after fresh methods for estimating the impact of the plans have seen the expected carbon cost more than double - from 26,711 to 55,904 tonnes of carbon.
The changes mean the council is now saying that the project will take another 20 years to become 'carbon neutral'.
Originally the council had planned to meet the target by 2030, but it is now proposing to extend the deadline to 2050.
