Llandrindod Wells Fairtrade Group annual general meeting on Wednesday, January 22
Llandrindod Wells Fairtrade Group will be holding its annual general meeting on Wednesday, January 22 at The Hive in Llandrindod Wells at 7pm.
During the past year the group has taken part in many community events including table top sales, the Carnival, Christmas Fairs, and the Christmas Tree Festival, to raise awareness of Fairtrade, and the importance of it to farmers of the commodities the UK has to import, like coffee, tea, cocoa and rice.
The group have been selling rice grown in Malawi to highlight the amount a farmer must sell (90 kg) to enable him to send one of his children to school for a year.
The Fairtrade Walking Bananas, there are now two of them, have caused merriment at these events, as well as supporting the campaigns to spread the word, during Fairtrade Day in May and Fairtrade Fortnight in September.
The group needs more volunteers so go to the AGM to find out more, or contact them via Facebook.
