Welshpool Police carried out a raid on an address in the town centre yesterday.

They said that the property, off High Street, was found to contain 340 cannabis plants.

Officers said they had estimated the value of the drugs at £357,000.

One man has been arrested over the find - as well as on a charge of entering the country illegally.

A spokesman for Dyfed Powys Police said: "Officers in North Powys executed a warrant at an address in High Street, Welshpool on Tuesday, January 14, where 340 cannabis plants, believed to be worth around £357,000, were seized.

"One man, aged 21, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the production of a class B drug, and illegal entry into the UK. He currently remains in police custody."

It is the fourth major drugs bust in the town centre since January 2024.

The first saw a significant operation discovered in the town's former HSBC bank, before large numbers of cannabis plants were twice discovered at the former County Times office, off High Street.
