He said: “There's damage to the turf on the Gaskell Fields by, we think, two youths on mini-motorbikes.

“We don't know who they are, but we think they are local so we are hoping their parents will get them under control.

“The turf will recover in time but this is a regular thing, and this is very antisocial and inconsiderate behaviour with health and safety implications.”

He added that the Much Wenlock Safer Neighbourhood Team have been informed and has asked anybody who witnesses such behaviour on the field to contact the town clerk on 01952 727509.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We are working hard to tackle antisocial behaviour (ASB) in Much Wenlock and the information provided to us by residents can be essential in taking action to make a difference to where you live.

"We have had three reports from members of the public regarding two youths riding motorcycles on the Gaskell Recreation Ground. Their actions have caused alarm and distress to other people using the area and they are also causing damage to the recreation ground in the wet conditions.

"If you have any information that may assist the police in identifying those responsible for this behaviour, please contact the team on email at bmw.snt@westmercia.police.uk, the team can then speak to them and pass on a suitable warning regarding their actions.  If they continue to be ride them in an anti-social manner, consideration could be given to seizing the motorcycles."
