The owners of the Astbury Golf & Lodge Resort - formerly known as Astbury Hall - have applied for permission to build a new clubhouse and pro shop.
The proposal involves the demolition of part of the building known as 'the Boat House', located to the south of Astbury Hall.
If approved, the single-storey "lean-to" at the south end of the Boat House would be replaced with a single-storey extension in render and brick that would house the new facilities.
While not a listed building, the 19th-century hall and the Boat House can be considered non-designated heritage assets because of their age and significance.
From 1985 until 2019, Astbury Hall was the home of KK Downing, former guitarist with Judas Priest, who had a championship-standard golf course built in the grounds.
The sprawling 354-acre site has been transformed by its latest owners into a huge leisure complex since Downing's estate collapsed into administration in 2017.
Today, it features a USGA standard 18-hole golf course, tennis courts and a luxury lodge resort.
The latest application suggests the new on-site facility - if approved - would employ one full-time and one part-time member of staff, and be open each day from 8am to 6pm.
The full application can be viewed online at Shropshire Council's planning portal using reference number 24/04769/FUL.
