Plea for action on crash-prone Shrewsbury road where motorist has had two cars written off

Residents in The Mount, one of the main roads that leads in and out of Shrewsbury town centre, have “been ignored” despite repeatedly raising concerns over road safety in the area.
Now Copthorne councillor Rob Wilson is calling for action after numerous requests for a lower speed limit and other traffic-calming measures.
A scheme was drawn up for lower speed limits in 2022 which was put out to consultation. However, no work has been carried out, and some residents say they are not even receiving replies from Shropshire Council.
Dr Nigel O’Connor, who has lived at The Mount for 35 years, says that he has grown used to the fact that the wing mirror on his car may be knocked off every eight months.
