90 Key Stage Two students from six different primary schools will engage in the 'youth empowerment' training days run by YouthShoots next Wednesday and Thursday.

The sessions will take place at two host sites from across the academy trust that said the aim is to help the students acquire and develop 'vital' skills that not only build their confidence and abilities, but "empower them to develop unique peer-led initiatives for their individual schools".

Through interactive workshops and practical exercises, pupils will learn about mental wellbeing, develop resilience strategies to maintain positive wellbeing, understand the impact that behaviour choices can have on others' mental wellbeing, and develop effective youth-led strategies that they will implement in their school settings to benefit the whole school.

Paul Hanmore at YouthShoots said: "We are delighted that we are engaging with Empower Multi-Academy Trust in delivering an academy-wide series of events for their primary schools.

"Educating young people on what mental wellbeing looks like for them and how to manage it effectively is key to unlocking their potential in self-discovery and belief. From what they learn in the training, we look forward to seeing what social action initiatives they undertake in order support their peers in their schools and beyond."
