Videos showcasing Builth Wells to be made in the town
Builth Wells is the next town to be in the spotlight as a series of five promotional videos are due to be made in the town.
Highlighting attractions, business community, the town’s history, beauty and supportive community, the videos will have a cinematic feel and show what Builth Wells has to offer.
Four of the videos will be filmed during the different seasons starting with the Spring and they will be short, about one minute long and eye-catching to hold viewers’ attention. The fifth video will be a montage of the others and will be longer.
Builth will be the second local town to receive videography company Tremio’s expertise, as they have already completed videos of Rhayader which were narrated by Voice of an Angel singer Charlotte Church. They have received thousands of views.
Sam Cook from Tremio attended a recent Builth Wells Town Council meeting to pitch his idea.
He said: “I am Builth Wells born and bred and Tremio is a local videography company that creates, edits and produces full marketing videos for companies, hospitality, tourism and other sectors.
“We did the Rhayader video over a year and the videos have had thousands of views.
“But it was not Builth Wells, so I have been hankering to see if we could do something for Builth Wells. I have put together shot lists and ideas to give you a flavour of what we could do.”
Sam said the videos once complete can be shared on social media and websites.
He said he would like to include local clubs, the Groe, hanging baskets, town events such as the Christmas grotto, the Royal Welsh Show and the videos would show what Builth has to offer rather than focusing on one business.
The videos could also focus on the surrounding areas, local b and b’s and campsites etc.
“Builth Wells tends to be forgotten about as far as Powys County Council is concerned and I think it’s time we started to show it off. It is a beautiful place with so much to offer, and we should highlight that.”
Town clerk Louise Hammond said someone had just pulled together a pamphlet on local walks so maybe that could be included and it would be good to see local councillors on the videos and Councillor Lynda Owen perhaps they could also include the pamphlets.
Sam said the videos would cost about £2,000 and Mrs Hammond said the council has money in a project budget which could be used for it.
Members agreed to spend £2,000 on the videos to promote the town.
