Richard McCrohan's creation provides a coffee-table sized diorama - depicting some of the town's iconic buildings - and the River Severn.

The miniature model contains a host of recognisable landmarks, including Shrewsbury Abbey, Shrewsbury Castle, Shrewsbury Cathedral, the Parade, the Market Hall, Old Market Hall and the churches of St Chad's, St Alkmund's and St Mary's.

Mr McCrohan is also sharing instructions on how to recreate his model, which can be found online for anyone wanting their own shrunken-Shrewsbury.

Shrewsbury is not the first town, city, or iconic building created by Mr McCrohan, who lives in Church Stretton.

The Bricklink website, which contains instructions for his Shrewsbury model, also features 20 other creations from the 67-year-old - including miniature versions of Norwich and York, as well as the stunning skylines of Singapore, Seoul and Hong Kong.

Mr McCrohan said that it had taken a while to get his Shrewsbury model right - but that the town's unique architecture lends itself to the stylised design.

He said that he has a keen interest in Lego, particularly the architectural series - but that his own designs focus on the style, more than the intricate, specific detail of an area.

He said: "Lego themselves create all of the really big sort of great international cities - they do London, Paris, Singapore, and places, but even the small places such as Shrewsbury have some quite unique architecture so they can be done on a slightly smaller scale - for example St Chad's is a really unique church."
