Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Presteigne, Llandrindod Wells, Rhayader, Llandrindod Wells, Builth Wells, Newtown, Brecon, Hay-on-Wye, Tumble and Llanfyllin Fire Stations, were called to the fire at Knowle Farm, New Radnor at 9.15pm on Sunday, January 26.

They were assisted by crews from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.

Crews responded to a fire within a barn, measuring approximately 30 metres by 18 metres and containing hay and machinery.  

The firefighters used two ground monitors, two main jets, six hose reel jets, two water bowsers and 12 breathing apparatus sets to extinguish the fire and to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings.  

The barn was severely damaged by the fire and partially collapsed The incident was especially challenging due to high winds fanning the fire.

The final crews left the scene at 4.26pm on Monday, January 27.
