Inspectors from the education watchdog visited St Mary’s CofE Primary School in Shawbury, on December 17 and 18.

Ofsted said high expectations for behaviour and learning were evident from the nursery onwards, with the school's six core values being modelled by staff and understood by pupils.

The report added that pupils are exceptionally well-behaved as they are taught the importance of thinking about others, as well as themselves.

The primary school's curriculum has also been described as "broad and ambitious" with a strong emphasis on reading.

Effective strategies have been put in place to support struggling readers alongside activities that involve parents who help to foster a love of reading.

Inspectors commended well-organised subject curriculums and said early English and Maths are taught effectively so that children are well prepared for learning in key stage one and beyond.
