Motorist taken to hospital after collision on Wytheford Road near Shrewsbury and Shawbury

A motorist who sustained 'potentially serious injuries' was taken to hospital after a collision on a 'B' road near Shrewsbury last night.

Emergency Services were called to the B5063, Wytheford Road at around 7.08pm last night after a road traffic collision involving one car.

Two fire crews were sent from Hodnet and Wem fire stations to the scene. A West Midlands Ambulance crew also attended.

Upon arrival, ambulance staff found a man who was the driver of the car.

He was assessed before being taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. 

Firefighters used small gear to deal with the incident. 

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called at 7.08pm on Wednesday to a road traffic collision involving one car on the B5063 from Shrewsbury and Atcham, Shawbury in Shrewsbury. 

"One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a man who was the driver of the car. He was assessed and had sustained potentially serious injuries. He received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further assessment.” 

The incident concluded at 8.03pm.
