Non-profit Race Against Blood Cancer recently launched an appeal to help find a stem cell match for a 21-year-old from Telford who is battling cancer.
Marshall Davies, from Dawley, was diagnosed in April 2023 with folliculotropic mycosis fungoides, a rare and potentially aggressive type of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma.
Sadly, there is no current match on the stem cell register for Marshall, and Race Against Blood Cancer is pulling out all the stops to find him a donor.
Since the appeal was launched online, more than 400 people have signed up to the stem cell register online and several in-person donor drives have encouraged dozens to sign up.
Last Sunday (January 26) Marshall, along with volunteers and many friends and family, took part in the Walton Wobbles 5k in Stafford.
Race Against Blood Cancer Community engagement manager Gemma Elsmore said: "Marshall performed exceptionally well, completing the 5k just days after undergoing treatment. The organiser, JC Race Solutions, raised over £3,000 for Race Against Blood Cancer during the event.
"We also held a donor recruitment drive there and successfully added 31 people to the stem cell register."
The next two in-person drives will be taking place this weekend, with the first being held at the SEAH Stadium (New Bucks Head) in Wellington on Saturday (February 1).
The event will run from 12pm to 3pm, before AFC Telford United kick off against Harborough at 3pm.
On Sunday (February 2) another drive will be taking place at Defined Detail valeting services on the Castle Trading Estate in St Georges from 10am to 2pm.
