Met Office issues weather warning for Shropshire

“Heavy and persistent” rain is forecast for parts of the West Midlands, with 20-40mm of rain expected “fairly widely” across the warning area.

A Met office weather warning has been issued for parts of the West Midlands.

A yellow warning for rain will be in place for Herefordshire and Shropshire from 12:00 today (Tuesday, April 15) to 12:00 tomorrow (Wednesday, April 16).

Heavy rain is expected for parts of the West Midlands.

The warning reads: “A spell of heavy and persistent rain is expected to move north across western Britain during Tuesday into early Wednesday. Whilst there is some uncertainty in where the heaviest rain will fall, 20-40 mm of rain is expected fairly widely. A few places may see 50-75 mm of rain during this period: gradually building up in the west following rain on Monday, whilst in parts of the east, falling in shorter periods where heavy showers and thunderstorms become slow-moving.”

A largely dry and bright start to the day, before outbreaks of showery develop into the afternoon, these locally heavy and possibly thundery at times. A cooler day compared to Monday. Light winds. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight (April 15)

Rather cloudy with further outbreaks of showery rain, locally heavy, continuing to move steadily northwards across all parts overnight. Breezy and mild. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Wednesday (April 16)

Cloud and rain, locally heavy, during the morning will gradually clear northwards. Becoming drier and brighter with sunny spells into the afternoon. Windy at first. Staying on the cool side. Maximum temperature 14 °C. 

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday

Sunny spells and scattered showers Thursday. Cloud and outbreaks of rain probably spreading northwards during Friday. Drier and brighter on Saturday, before further rain arrives later. Temperatures near normal.
