Mobile holiday home company Salop Leisure was celebrating today after being crowned Shropshire's Company of the Year at the county's business "Oscars".

The Shrewsbury-based firm took the top prize at last night's county business awards in front of an audience of more than 500 people at Telford International Centre.

The company, which employs over 100 staff, has just been bought out by its management team, and has seen its turnover jump by £1 million since moving into its state-of-the-art sales centre at Emstrey.

It was also a good night for Matt Sandford, the former managing director of Ternhill Communications, who picked up two awards with his new company Pure Communications of Dorrington in the categories of entrepreneur and best new business.

There were also prizes for Shrewsbury-based property agency Barbers, Telford manufacturing firms Alcoa and Protomold, Skillbuilders of Ludlow, and The Jackloc Company from Priorslee.
