The FTSE 100 remained volatile this morning, rising over five per cent in early trading following last week's falls.
After closing just above the 4,000 mark on Friday, the UK's leading index of shares rallied this morning and reached 4,259.54 by 08:40 GMT.
All stocks were trading higher, with Prudential shares leading the index, jumping 11.68 per cent.
Several other financial stocks rose, including Lloyds TSB shares, which were up 9.93 per cent, and Aviva was 9.16 per cent higher.
Mining stocks were also up after last week's falls, with Anglo American up 10.03 per cent and BG Group up 9.97 per cent.
