A north Shropshire branch of a county automotive firm which has ceased trading could bounce back saving jobs, it was claimed today.

P&A Partnership Receivers said today they were poised to put Tyre Kingdom, with bases in Whitchurch, Shrewsbury and Ludlow, into liquidation in January, but "third parties" were believed to be looking at it.

The firm's headquarters, in Coder Road on Ludlow Business Park, were shut today and a source said the administrators had been turning customers away at the Shrewsbury branch.

But in Whitchurch, there are hopes it could return, safeguarding jobs for three full-time staff.

Linda Bate, Whitchurch Chamber of Commerce spokeswoman, said she and her husband had rented space to the firm in Rosemary Lane and there were hopes of "resurrecting" the branch.

No-one from Tyre Kingdom was available for comment today.
