A north Shropshire country hotel has been put up for sale with a price tag of more than £1 million, it was revealed today.
Tern Hill Hall Hotel, in Tern Hill, near Market Drayton, has been put on the market for £1,250,000 through agents Christie + Co of Birmingham. The current owners are also inviting people to consider renting the hotel at a cost of £60,000 a year. The 13-bedroom country house hotel dates back to 1911.
It includes a function suite for 120 people, a luxury marquee for 300, a restaurant for 60 as well as a bar and conference room.
There are also 80 parking spaces available as well as a private accommodation area with three bedrooms.
Christie + Co say the current owners are looking to sell the business due to ill health.
A spokesman for the company added: "The hotel is an established hotel and function venue and has been owned by our clients since January 2007.
"Our client currently runs the business under management and has built up an excellent reputation within Market Drayton and surrounding areas with commercial business throughout the week and a popular wedding and function venue on the weekends.
"The attractive grounds make the hotel a popular destination venue and would ideally suit an owner operator to increase the trade further."
The spokesman said: "Our clients also own a detached bungalow adjacent to the hotel which would be available subject to a separate negotiation.
"The bungalow is currently derelict and would need refurbishing or would make an ideal building plot subject to planning permission."
In 2003 the hotel underwent a major make-over aimed at improving the experience for guests and diners.
As part of the overhaul, bedrooms and bathrooms were given a new look.
The same year bosses were ordered to pull down a marquee set up beside the hotel in a row with the district council about fire safety.
But the council backed down after learning the hotel had the proper fire safety certificates.
