New premises for Technology Supplies Ltd marks five years' hard work
A move to new premises for an expanding Shropshire firm marks the culmination of five years of work, bosses have said.
Steve Miller, chief executive of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust, unveiled a plaque to mark the opening of Technology Supplies Ltd's new national headquarters at Phoenix House, on the Battlefield Enterprise Park in Shrewsbury.
The move was first mooted in 2007, and the bespoke building was finally opened last week.
Technology Supplies now hopes to use the move to grow its turnover from £15 million to £20 million by 2015, and will add to its current staff of 75.
Managing director Gordon Campbell said: "We are honoured Steve has opened our bespoke new premises. It seems a perfect relationship between ourselves as suppliers and Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust as educators, as we both play a leading role in supporting good design and technology."
Liz Lowe, head of estates at Morris Property which bought and developed the site, said: "In the context of the local economy a 32,000 sq ft warehouse and office is fairly unprecedented.
"It's much larger than you would normally see, but as it was a bespoke project for Technology Supplies with the commitment they have made with a 15-year lease we were happy to build a unit of this size.
"We have also built in flexibility for future expansion."
The planning and development of the two acre warehouse and office building involved over 100 people including Morris Property surveyors and construction managers, who worked closely with Technology Supplies Ltd and architects Building Design Practice to deliver the project in budget and on-time.
Robin Morris, chairman of Morris Property, said: "The opening of these new premises signals the completion of what has been an inspiring build at Battlefield.
"Everyone involved in the project has ensured the finished result surpasses expectations and will provide Technology Supplies with a custom built home for its future growth and success."
