New bespoke trailer is unveiled by Telford firm
A & D Haulage (Telford) Ltd has unveiled the latest addition to its fleet, a bespoke built 15.65m curtain-sider trailer equipped with a rear-mounted tail lift.
The trailer is part of a 10-year trial in conjunction with the Department of Transport and is one of 1500 extra long trailers to be commissioned on the UK road network.
The trailers are two-metres longer than a conventional 13.6m trailer and when delivering Craemer's products can increase carrying capacity by 20% thus reducing the number of vehicle loads into delivery points and saving 30,000 miles per year.
Along with fuel savings and reducing their carbon footprint and reducing congestion, it was the obvious route to take for A&D Haulage and Craemer UK.
Technology is ever evolving and, as a company, A&D Haulage embraces new ideas, it already offers live signature capture along with a facility to be paperless.

Dan Brown, sales director at A&D Haulage (Telford) Ltd said: "We are proud to support the trial of 15.65m trailers and are always actively searching to find ways of reducing congestion, fuel spend and our carbon footprint.
"We believe this trailer is the only one in operation in the West Midlands as we have had this bespoke built for Craemer UK Ltd.
"The trailer is equipped with an Anteo tail lift with side safety guards and wireless remote control for safe off-loading of bins at delivery points.
"A moveable bulk head has been installed to separate loads and ensure safe loading and transportation of Craemer's products."
Steve Poppitt, UK Sales Director at Craemer UK, added: "Craemer UK and A&D Haulage have enjoyed a successful logistics partnership since 1998.
"As a subsidiary of the Paul Craemer GmbH manufacturing group, Craemer UK has grown from a small sales and distribution company to a multi-million pound, plastic injection moulding operation supplying various industry sectors with plastic pallets and UK Local Authorities and Councils with over a million plastic wheelie bins each year.
"The delivery of an efficient distribution operation is essential when implementing public sector contracts. A&D's tried and tested ability to provide us with an efficient, flexible and reliable logistics service has helped us to maintain our current status as a primary supplier of waste containers and plastic pallets to the UK and Europe.
"The requirement for the UK to meet tough European recycling targets by 2015 along with an ever increasing demand from Eastern Europe will require us to increase our wheelie bin production output at Telford considerably throughout the coming months and years.
"The utilisation of this new type of articulated trailer will help us to streamline our UK logistics operation and maintain an efficient and competitive delivery service to our customers."
