Expansion will lead to seven new jobs at Welspool firm
Seven new jobs will be created as part of a Welshpool company's expansion plans.
Dynacast has begun work on a 530 sq metre extension to its business in the town and will take on the new staff in the new year.
Bosses at the firm, which is based on the Offa's Dyke Business Park, said they were delighted to be creating the jobs in the town where it has been based for 22 years.
The company, which works in precision engineering and die casting, is working with Mid Wales architectural and property design practice Hughes Architects, which has undertaken the design and planning aspects of the extension.
Dynacast has branches throughout the US, Europe and Asia and employs hundreds of people worldwide, serving industry-consumer sectors from electronics to automotive and healthcare.
Mike Brettell, of Dynacast, said the company needed to expand its manufacturing facility to meet increased demand from customers.
"As a leader in speciality die casting and metal injection moulding We are constantly developing new products with our customers and there has been a marked growth in demand," he said.
"We needed to add more space to support this growth. By working with Hughes Architects, we're achieving this through the new extension."
Richard Lewis, of Hughes Architects, which has bases in Welshpool, Newtown and Aberystwyth, added: "Dynacast came to us for a solution to their growing needs. It needed additional space to expand with the growth in their business.
"We designed an extension that will support this, successfully taking it to planning and now to the build phase with local construction company Walton Build.
"It's great to work with such a global business and we're pleased to be helping them with their growth plans through the design of the new extension that will lead to new employment and investment in Mid Wales."
The project will be completed by March 2016 before fit-out of the facility begins.
Leighton-based construction company Walton Build was appointed to undertake the construction work following planning approval.
