Wood pellet and wood chip producer Forest Fuels, which is based in Craven Arms, Telford and Whitchurch, has been included in the report on the UK’s fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium sized businesses.

The company, established in the county in 2006, has grown exponentially and now boasts over 40 depots all over the UK serving well over 2000 customers.

To be included as one of the 1,000 companies on the London Stock Exchange Group list, businesses needed to show consistent revenue growth over a minimum of three years, significantly outperforming their industry peers.

Peter Solly, Forest Fuels managing director said that with nearly 3.9m companies on the total register at Companies House and 170,143 companies incorporated in the first quarter of this year alone, it showed the significance of achieving such an accolade amidst such a huge field of businesses.

He said: “This is a huge testament to everything that everybody in the organisation does.

"Shropshire has been one of our key areas of growth with investment in new people, plant and depot development to better serve our expanding customer base in the area and beyond.

"What makes this accolade extra special is that it isn’t something that you can 'enter' - the judges have found us from our reputation and accomplishments.

"Our commitment to customer service and 'doing the right thing' has been the driving force behind the business for many years.

"I’m delighted for the whole team that our ambitious growth over the last few years has been recognised in this way. It’s an honour to feature in this report.”

Ben Goh, regional manager, said: “Our business is firmly rooted in Shropshire and we’re committed to delivering high quality wood fuel in a straightforward and reliable way.

"Our Telford regional office and depot has been at the spearhead of the ambition and vision of Forest Fuels with investment in people, plant and depot development.

"Our combined fuel and servicing packages – as well as ability to supply both pellet and chip – is what sets us apart from our competitors. It’s great that we have been recognised in this way."

Xavier Rolet, chief executive of the London Stock Exchange Group said:

“These companies are the very heart of an ‘anti-fragile’ economy – more robust, more flexible and less prone to boom and bust. We must ensure we continue doing all we can to support high growth potential businesses like these."
