The company will be moving in to the former Jaeger store in The Square.

Opening in November, the shop will be the first branded Barbour store in Shropshire.

The Barbour store will bring six jobs to the town and positions are already being advertised, including a retail manager, a supervisor and retail assistants.

The 1,500sq ft store will house Barbour’s key collections.

Barbour is a partner business of Outdoor and Country, and founder, Jonathan Capener, said: "I’m really excited today to reveal plans for our Barbour partner store in Shrewsbury. This will bring our total number of stores to seven and is a great opportunity for us to continue to build our close working relationship with Barbour.

"It’s a great privilege to be able to represent this iconic British brand in such a fabulous town as Shrewsbury."

The Staffordshire-based retailer currently operates three other Barbour branded retail stores in Evesham, Knutsford and Blackbrook together with four Outdoor and Country branded retail stores in Chester, Trentham, Evesham and Talke.

The iconic brand was once the uniform of rural aristocracy but now has a growing celebrity fan base including the Duchess of Cambridge, Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards, Bond star Daniel Craig and fashionista Alexa Chung.
