£1.5 million refit for Market Drayton Morrisons store
Market Drayton's Morrisons supermarket is undergoing a £1.5 million refurbishment.
The work on the store, in Maer Lane, is set to be completed in November.
The store is getting a new look cafe and front of store lobby extension.
It is also getting a new 'make your own pizza' counter, new health and wellbeing section, bigger Nutmeg clothes section and new-look Market Street.
Store bosses said the investment isn't resulting in any new jobs being created.
Store manager Jamie Davies said: “We listened to what our shoppers and colleagues said they wanted and used their ideas to develop the new-look store.
"We’d like to thank all of our customers for bearing with us through the disruption that the work caused and hope they love their new Morrisons.”
Earlier this year, Shropshire Council approved a planning application submitted by the store to create a bigger entrance lobby and customer cafe.
A statement submitted in support of the planning application stated: “Whittam Cox Architects have been commissioned to provide a glazed entrance lobby located under the existing open canopy to improve customer access to Morrisons store and extend the existing customer cafe both to enhance the internal modernisation of the sales floor area.
“The extensions will enhance the existing retail facilities and customer entrance area. The extensions will create increased activity at the front of the store.”
