The town is one of seven new entrants into the top 20 at Advanced Engineering 2018, which is set to take place at the NEC on October 31 and November 1. It placed at number 17.

Councillor Lee Carter, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Economic Development, said: “I am delighted that Telford has made the Top 20 list of high value manufacturing hotspots published by Advanced Engineering.

“This reflects our commitment to being a business supporting and business winning council which has resulted in significant inward investment across the borough and has also helped a number of already established businesses to expand or move to new premises.”

Alison Willis, industrial divisional director at Easyfairs, organiser of the show, said: “High value manufacturing provides highly paid, highly skilled jobs across the country and our league table shows where the advanced engineering hotspots are.”

The other places to have been named on the list within the West Midlands are Birmingham and Coventry, two of the region’s major cities.
