Council-owned Shrewsbury shopping centres see footfall drop
Footfall in the three Shrewsbury shopping centres bought by Shropshire Council is down by three to four per cent on this time last year.
The authority says this is due to high visitor numbers in 2017 when Primark opened in the Darwin Centre.
But footfall at the Darwin and Pride Hill shopping centres is up by about six per cent on the same period two years ago.
Shropshire Council says that current footfall in the centres is in line with expectations "given the current retail trading conditions", and that the centres "appear to be doing much better than many other towns and cities".
