Dodd Group was formed in Shropshire 74 years ago and said it has continued to act as a role model within the construction industry as one of the country’s leading mechanical and electrical services contractors. The group designs, installs and maintains mechanical and electrical services.

Today, Dodd Group has more than 800 employees, 19 offices and a turnover exceeding £160 million.

The family values instilled within the company work to make a real difference to the communities in which the organisation operates, creating long term employment and training opportunities, the firm said.

Dodd Group has for many years been a great supporter of apprenticeships to develop its next generation of employees.

Dodd Group supports a wide range of apprenticeships, covering both mechanical (gas) and electrical, and has recently delivered a very successful management upskilling apprenticeship programme, resulting in a number of their managers and supervisors gaining merits and distinctions in level three leadership and management, along with enrolling its contract administrators on a customer service apprenticeship.

This investment ensures that there is an on-going supply of skilled operatives for Dodd Group activities and that there are opportunities for young people from the communities it serves.

Mary-Anne Clayton, Dodd Group’s HR manager, said: “With a number of directors and managers at Dodd Group having emerged through apprenticeship routes, including the MD of our property care division, the company is a proud advocate of vocational training and our senior management team believes that we have a moral obligation to encouraging young people into the industry through apprenticeships and work placements."

As an ambassador organisation, Dodd Group encourages the take up of apprentices by companies in its supply chain and the Ladder for Shropshire said it is really pleased to have already received the first enquiries.
