A family owned and run jeweller has relocated its Shrewsbury shop to a new, bigger unit in the town centre.

F.Hinds' Pride Hill Shopping Centre store originally opened in 1988 and has now moved to the Darwin Centre.

The new unit features the most modern store design in the F.Hinds brand and has far larger window displays than before. This has enabled the jeweller to offer increased ranges of diamonds, jewellery, watches and gifts.

Andrew Hinds, gemmologist and diamond buyer, said: “We’ve been a family business since we started in 1856 and are honoured to have been to be part of Shrewsbury’s retail scene for over 30 years.

“I’m proud to be able to say that while we are big enough to buy from the source and to cut out the middleman, I also use my gemmological training and 30 years’ experience to individually hand select each of the certificated diamonds that we stock.

Inside the new store

“Moving to a bigger store in the Darwin Centre starts a new chapter for us and we can’t wait to bring our bigger, brighter and better store to Shrewsbury despite the challenging times we all find ourselves in.

“I hope that we can welcome everyone – both existing customers and new – to our new store very soon.”

Kevin Lockwood, Shrewsbury shopping centre manager, said: “I’d like to welcome them to their new home and wish them every success as the new store opens.

“It’s an exciting time to be moving to the Darwin Centre as we look to establish it as Shrewsbury’s main shopping centre. A number of stores have already relocated from the Pride Hill Centre – including several who moved to The Collective independent traders’ gallery last year – and we hope more will follow.

“With new stores opening, and following last year’s major refurbishment of the centre’s middle level, the Darwin Centre will be the place to visit as lockdown measures are eased.”
