Telford Centre has launched its thousand heart project in partnership with ABM UK.

The project is an opportunity to reflect on how the community has pulled together over the last 13 months, with a bespoke piece of artwork which has been commissioned to be installed as a permanent feature at The Retreat rooftop garden at the shopping centre.

One thousand colourful hearts will form a beautiful rainbow mural, with the opportunity for 200 of these hearts to carry personalised messages of remembrance of those lost during the pandemic and of gratitude to all those that have given and done so much to help others.

Katie Broome, marketing manager at Telford Centre, said: “The last year has been such a difficult time for everyone and we have seen how the Telford community have pulled together during such a challenging time.

"The thousand heart project is an opportunity to create a lasting tribute to those directly affected and to those who have done so much for others during this time.

"We’d also like to give a huge thanks to ABM UK who have sponsored this project to help make it happen."

Lee Cartmer, divisional director at ABM UK, said: "This is a completely unique and incredibly personal piece of art – capturing the names of those who have been lost in the local area over the past 12 months.

"It captures a moment in time for this community and provides a platform to share gratitude, condolences and messages of hope.

"We are delighted to sponsor this initiative which we believe provides an opportunity to unify the extended team and community as we start to see the end of this crisis."

If you know a key worker or neighbour, friend or family member who you would like to remember or give thanks to, and you would like to be part of the thousand heart project, you can make a submission at www.telfordcentre.com
