Walter 'Wally' Keen died at home, cared for by his wife Joyce, after a long-term illness. He was 87.

Wally worked in the haulage business for 55 years, having set up W A Keen Transport in Horsehay in the late 1960s.

He only retired from driving at the age of 78 and, having lived most of his life on The Brandlee, was well-known and loved in the area.

His funeral, on Saturday, September 30, will see a large convoy of local hauliers guide him to Shrewsbury Crematorium, with son-in-law Steven driving Wally in his truck.

Daughters Tracy and Lynn paid tribute to their beloved father, who they said was dedicated to his family and passionate about his work.

"When he was not working, he enjoyed going on cruises," Tracy said. "My dad was very kind and dignified, and very strong.

"He was a rock for his family and he was there for everyone really."
