The Legal 500 analyses the capabilities of law firms across the world, with a comprehensive research programme revised and updated every year to bring the most up-to-date vision of the global legal market.

Experts from the Midlands firm are named in the 2024 edition of the elite legal list - with two departments retaining their long-term top tier status.

Highlighted in the respected directory as coveted ‘Tier One’ teams are the firm’s Contentious Probate department, together with its Agricultural and Rural Affairs team.

The Contentious Probate team are named in the top tier for the 12th year in a row for their work advising clients on complex wills and inheritance cases, with colleagues in the Agricultural department retaining the highest rank for the fourth year in succession, recognising their advice to farmers and landowners.

Andrew Davies, partner and managing director at mfg Solicitors said: “To have so many of our partners and departments highlighted again in this year’s Legal 500 is another proud moment.

“To maintain these consistently high standards really is exceptional, and quite rightly our Contentious Probate and Agricultural teams should be singled out. Led by partners Andrew Chandler and Alexandra Phillips, they have carved out a sought-after reputation. I must also give a special mention to partner Robert Weston. To make it a hat-trick of years in the Hall of Fame is unique, and just underlines the high esteem in which he’s held.

“Overall, every single team and partner named in this year’s list thoroughly deserve all the praise and plaudits which come their way. It’s a testament to their professionalism and shows again the quality of advice they provide every day.”

Departments also praised in the latest legal guide are its Family, Commercial Property, Commercial Litigation, Corporate, Employment and Property Litigation teams.

Individual solicitors are also singled out for recognition this year. Partner and nationally-recognised contentious probate expert Robert Weston is named in the illustrious ‘Hall of Fame’ for the third year in a row. Meanwhile, partners Andrew Chandler (Contentious Probate), Sam Pedley (Litigation), Sian Kenkre (Family) and David Raymont (Commercial Property), are highlighted as stand outs in the Next Generation category.

Partners Sally Morris (Employment) and Clare Regan (Commercial Property) are also named as leading experts in their respective fields.
