Growth and community involvement help drive success for CQS Solutions
A year of growth and community involvement were key themes as Midlands, Shropshire and Mid Wales quantity surveyors CQS Solutions went from strength to strength in 2024.
The company consolidated its 2022 expansion - when it merged with Bowen Consultants in Mid Wales - and went on to open new offices in Birmingham and Welshpool in 2024 to complement its Telford base.
Company owner Tim Lloyd said sales had grown by more than 11 per cent across the year, and CQS had welcomed two new members of staff and a trainee.
“It’s been an exceptional year and really paves the way for us to grow still further over the next 12 months,” said Tim.
“We have secured many notable contract wins including with the National Trust at Attingham Park, Isle of Anglesey County Council, Taylor Woodrow and Tilbury Douglas, and also been accepted on to the West Midlands ‘Perfect Circle’ consultants framework.
“We have also had a T level student from Shrewsbury College working with us since January 2024 who has already completed his mandatory experience hours for his entire course and will be converted to a degree level apprentice in September 2025.”
The company has continued to play a leading role in the community throughout the year, including staging an enterprise skills programme at Ysgol Y Graig at Llangefni, Anglesey, through 2BEnterprising.
Senior quantity survey Zoe Clifton took part in a skydive which raised almost £3,000 for the Home-Start Telford & Wrekin charity, the company threw its weight behind the new £1.5million SYA base in Shrewsbury by sponsoring a room and it was involved in new collaborations with BuildFifty5/Tailored Living on schemes in Telford and Birmingham.
“The last 12 months have laid a really strong foundation for our plans for further growth in 2025,” Tim said.
“We are looking to expand across our key areas of Shropshire, Wales and the Midlands, where we have an unrivalled reputation for the quality of our work and our attention to detail.
“We are continuing to invest in the business – for example we are introducing a 360-degree laser scanning camera for measured surveys, 3D point cloud models and 360-degree photographic tours.
“And of course we are also investing in our staff to support our growth. This will include training for two senior staff members in RICS Whole Lifecycle Carbon assessments so that we can develop new products, an innovative careers event and working with partners to promote careers in construction.
“We also see Biodiversity Net Gain as an important area for expansion in the coming year, and will be working on new collaborations to develop innovative skills and services in this area.”
