Longden Shop reopened under community management with renewed vigour: to continue to provide residents with a  reliable, locally-driven source for all their daily essentials as  previous owner, Sarah Ellson  had done so well.

With a  proud history spanning over 50 years, the small but cherished establishment has fully embraced its new role as  a community-run facility, ensuring that quality Shropshire  products and convenience remain at the heart of village life.

Since its transition in August 2024, the shop has enjoyed success.

Bev Kerr,  the new manager, and her dedicated team of staff  and volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure that  the shop reflects the spirit and dedication of  Longden’s residents.

Sales  have exceeded expectations, allowing the team to reinvest in the store’s offerings and appearance.

The  shop now boasts an expanded range of products,  new signage, and stylish uniforms with personalised  aprons for each volunteer and team member. At the beginning of November, the store unveiled a brand-new layout, designed to create a more  enjoyable shopping experience for the community.

“With the belief that the shop serves as the heart of our village, much  like the kitchen is to the home, the team aims to make this community hub an essential resource and a warm welcoming place  for all,”  said Patrick Woodall Chair of the Longden Shop Action  Group.
