Telford's Reconomy brands achieve platinum success
Telford headquartered international circular economy specialist Reconomy has developed its corporate membership with business sustainability ratings agency EcoVadis in order to bolster its credentials as a leader in theield.
EcoVadis enables companies to benchmark and monitor their sustainability performance by completing detailed assessments of their policies, actions and measures, resulting in a scorecard rated on a scale from 0 to 100.
The scores reflect how well a company has integrated sustainability principles into its business practices.
Companies are benchmarked against their sector peers and receive a percentile rank, with those in the top 1 per cent earning Platinum medals and those in the top 5% earning Gold medals.
EcoVadis’ methodology is based on leading standards including GRI, UNGC and ISO 26000.
Over the past six years, seven of Reconomy’s brands across its three loops have earned medals ranging from Platinum to Silver, placing some of them in the top quartile of their sectors.
These accolades have reinforced Reconomy’s credibility with its investors, customers and other stakeholders while providing the Company with valuable insights into its performance and areas for improvement.
Having grown significantly through acquisitions, adding four brands this year and five last year, Reconomy is now focusing on bringing all of its brands, including its newly acquired ones, up to the same high sustainability standards.
The Company’s goal is for all its brands to achieve at least Gold ratings, setting the benchmark for excellence in the sector.
Looking ahead to 2025, one of Reconomy’s key strategic priorities is to accelerate the implementation of its business-wide Sustainable Procurement Policy, aligned with the ISO 20400 Sustainable Procurement Guidance Standard.
As part of this, Reconomy will enhance its methodology to engage with and assess its suppliers, ensuring ethical and transparent operations across its supply chain.
Diane Crowe, Group Sustainability Director at Reconomy, said: "We are delighted that several of our brands have achieved the highest recognition in sustainability from such a credible ratings agency.
"EcoVadis has been invaluable in giving us greater visibility into our performance, identifying areas for improvement and driving progress. As a business dedicated to accelerating circularity, we are committed to excellence and to leading our sector in sustainability.
“I look forward to strengthening our performance and working within the EcoVadis assessment framework to bring all our brands and suppliers up to the Gold standard at the very least.”
