Teenager held as part of Shrewsbury drug dealing probe
A teenager has been arrested in Shrewsbury as part of a police investigation into drug dealing in the town. The 18-year-old woman from York Road was arrested on Friday.
It came as part of the same investigation which saw two people arrested in June.
The pair – a 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman – were arrested at an address in Waincott where a quantity of Class A and B drugs with a street value of up to £20,000 were seized.
The latest arrest saw the teenager taken into custody at Shrewsbury police station on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled substances. She has been given bail as inquiries continue.
The other pair involved in the case were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply and have also been bailed.
Constable Andy Hawkins said the latest arrest 'continues the recent Pact priorities for the area to execute more drug warrants and target suspected dealers to disrupt illegal activity. This action is continuing by the Local Policing Team with further warrants planned'.
Detective Chief Inspector Alan Edwards, head of Shropshire CID, added: "We have carried out a series of drugs warrants in the Harlescott area and other parts of Shrewsbury in recent months and more will follow.
"People can help the police to protect their communities by passing on information in confidence."
