Shropshire burglary suspects arrested

Two men suspected of a string of burglaries around Shropshire were being quizzed by detectives this afternoon.

Police said the men, aged 29 and 35, were being questioned about up to eight burglaries in Bridgnorth, Shifnal, Cleobury Mortimer, Shrewsbury and Oswestry.

The pair, from Brierley Hill and Dudley, were arrested after their car was stopped by West Midlands police in Dudley yesterday.

A search of the vehicle revealed property believed to have been stolen in a burglary n the Shifnal area on Wednesday.

They were taken into custody at Shrewsbury Police Station.

The arrests come after police launched a major burglary crackdown, with raids on homes in Shrewsbury, Market Drayton, Whitchurch and Ludlow.
