They targeted Rowton Car Sales, in Paddock Lane, on the outskirts of Rowton, near Halfway House, on Sunday night, breaking into three cars and stealing the four wheels from one, and the owner thinks the premises was deliberately targeted due to its remote location

Garage owner Richard Card said today he now planned to install CCTV.

He said the thieves waited until the first night of early darkness on Sunday after the clocks went back.

Mr Card said he had been at the garage until about 6.30pm on Sunday, but came in on Monday morning to discover the theft.

Four metallic silver alloy wheels worth about £1,000 were removed from a Peugeot 206 along with the wheel nuts and studs, with damage of about £500 caused to the wheel sills.

The thieves also took radio stereos from two Vauxhall cars.

Mr Card said: "They have obviously done it in the first night of early darkness. They have damaged the Peugeot quite extensively.

"Whoever these people are had to come up the lane off a main road and spend quite a time there doing it. It was planned.

"These people have no respect for people's property because they have damaged so much stuff."

He said he not had a problem with crime at the garage for 20 years.

Police are appealing for information about the incident and want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious at or near the garage overnight on Sunday from around 9pm to 7am Monday.

Richard Ewels, a spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "Contact Shrewsbury police station on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
