Man donned a mask and assaulted his ex in Wellington
A man upset by the ending of a relationship donned a balaclava and went in search of his ex-girlfriend, hitting her over the head, Shrewsbury Crown Court heard.
Yesterday Adil Khan admitted assaulting Holly Port causing her actual bodily harm in Wellington in April 2011. Mr Robert Edwards, prosecuting, said Khan, 29, from Staveley Road, Wolverhampton, had taken the ending of the relationship badly.
Ms Port was in Wellington when two men wearing balaclavas came up behind her and she felt something strike the back of her head, the court heard.
She told police it had felt like a metal bar.
When Khan was stopped by police and his car searched, a metal bar was found, Mr Edwards said.
A text message recovered by police officers also indicated that it had been Khan that had struck her, the court heard.
The other man's identity was not known.
Judge Onions said that the case had taken a year and five months to come to court and said that even yesterday, before his guilty plea to causing actual bodily harm, Khan had put forward alibis.
"You were taking about alibi witnesses when you knew full well you were responsible," he said.
The judge adjourned the case for the preparation of reports until February.
After hearing Khan was holding down a good job he said he would look at all sentencing options.
