The 24-year-old defender, who was on loan at Shrewsbury from Barnsley at the start of this season, appeared at Telford Magistrates Court alongside James Mullarkey.

Mullarkey, 26, of Teme Avenue, Wellington, is also charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.

Telford-born Collins, of Simon Close, Wellington, started his career at Wolves before being sent out on loan to Hereford.

Following a successful spell at Port Vale, he was transferred to Barnsley and then loaned to Shrewsbury Town, where he made eight appearances.

He was released from his contract at Barnsley last week.

The pair are due to appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court on March 18.
