Stolen car crashed into lamppost in north Shropshire
A driver fled after crashing a stolen blue Nissan car into a lamppost off Heath Road, near Whitchurch at 7.30pm on Saturday.
A man was spotted running from the scene but could not be traced by police, despite dogs being sent out.
Inspector James Ashton of West Mercia Police, said: "The vehicle, a blue Nissan Terrano, is showing as stolen.
"The vehicle hit a lamppost and was found in a ditch.
"A male was cited running away from the scene. We deployed a dog to track person. We traced them for a while before we lost them.
"The vehicle has been recovered and will be forensically examined."
No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the incident.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident to call Whitchurch police station on 101.
