Two men fled empty-handed after the woman managed to hold on to her bag after being pulled to the ground during the attack close to Captain Webb Drive, in Dawley, on Sunday.

At just after 6pm, as the woman walked across Terrace Lodge car park with her 69-year-old mother and three-year-old daughter, she saw two men walking towards her, police said. As they walked past, one tried to grab the victim's handbag off her shoulder.

She was pulled to the ground by the men and as she fell the strap on her bag snapped. But she managed to keep hold of it and the men fled in the direction of Attwood Terrace without managing to steal anything.

A West Mercia police spokesman said: "Although the victim did not suffer any injuries as result of this incident she has been left very shaken by it, as have her mother and daughter.

"The two men that approached the victim are described as white and aged between 16 and 20. They are both described as wearing hooded tops with the hoods up, with one being blue in colour and the other black.

"Officers investigating this incident are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed it, or anyone who believes they may know the identity of either of the men involved."
