The 18 year old, of no fixed abode, appeared at Birmingham Crown Court yesterday. He is now due to face trial starting on May 20, with a venue for the hearing yet to be decided.

Mr Bebbington, 43, of Beaufort Green in Harlescott, was discovered unconscious with serious head injuries on the former canal footpath between Ditherington Road and Telford Way in Shrewsbury just before 1am on September 7 last year. He was rushed to hospital but died later that morning without regaining consciousness.

In December, Stewart Kevin Doran, 21, of Bainbridge Green, Harlescott, pleaded guilty to Mr Bebbington's murder.

He will be sentenced after the end of Davies's trial.

On April 6 friends and family of Mr Bebbington will pay tribute to him by putting on an event called The Big Busk on what would have been his birthday.
