The weapon missed and the offender was last seen running along Ternway towards Grinshill Flats.

Police want to hear from anyone who has any information about the robbery which happened at about 2.45pm on Friday.

He also wore a dark blue hooded top, boots and what were described as workman's trousers or jeans.

Inspector Langton said: "Thankfully nobody was hurt in what appears to have been quite an amateurish robbery.

"While we have the screwdriver, which is now being forensically examined, we have yet to recover the till drawer. If anyone finds one locally, possibly in the Dothill area, please contact West Mercia Police immediately."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Malinsgsate CID via the non-emergency number 101.
