CCTV images released after man stole meat from two Co-op stores

An appeal has been launched in a bid to track down a man who stole meat from two supermarkets.

The man, who has short brown hair and was wearing blue jeans, black trainers and a navy blue jacket with grey hoodie underneath, stole the meat from the Co-op shops in Shifnal and Albrighton.

On March 21 at 5.45pm the man took four packets of beef joints worth £78 and three bottles of alcohol from the Shifnal store.

Two days later at 4.30pm he took 'several joints of meat' worth £55 from the Albrighton store. On both occasions he placed the meat into a carrier bag he had brought in with him.

Constable Phillip Nock, of West Mercia Police, said: "We have released CCTV images of a man we would like to trace for two meat thefts, and who has possibly carried out more theft offences.

A shop assistant at the Albrighton store saw this male, exited the store in pursuit from the rear of the store and saw the male putting the carrier bag containing the stolen items into a silver coloured vehicle, possibly a Ford Fiesta.

"The male had short dark hair, medium build wearing blue jeans, black trainers,a navy jacket with grey hoodie underneath."

Anyone with information about the thefts or who can identify the man is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
