Cameron Shaw, 25, was stopped by police in Dark Lane, Little Dawley, on April 17 after he was spotted driving the vehicle with no helmet, Telford Magistrates Court was told yesterday.

He admitted driving a vehicle while over the drink drive limit, having no licence and no insurance.

He was banned from driving for 24 months, given a 12 month supervision order and told to complete a 15 day drink impaired drivers programme.

Shaw had never held a driving licence, the court heard.

Katie Smith, prosecuting, said upon being approached by police, Shaw, of Dawley, admitted that he was an alcoholic and then failed a road-side breath test.

James Wade, for Shaw, said the quad bike was a present for one of his children, and he had been trying to move it over a bank when he was stopped by police.
