Woman pushed over in Telford attempted robbery
A woman was pushed to the ground in broad daylight after an attempted robbery in a Telford street.
The 26-year-old woman was walking along Beech Road in Madeley at about 7pm yesterday when a man grabbed her from behind in a "bear hug".
He pushed her to the ground and fled empty-handed in the direction of Ironbridge after she managed to fight him off.
Chris Ammonds, West Mercia Police spokesman, said: "He tried to grab the purse she was carrying but she managed to defend herself by hitting him on the left arm, which forced him to let go of her, but then he pushed her to the floor. He ran off but he didn't manage to steal the purse."
The victim was left with a sore shoulder and back. The attacker is described as white, about 6ft, of average build and with short brown hair. Call police on 101.
