Community support officer Zoe Beven was taken to hospital for treatment for whiplash injuries, cuts and bruises.

She was struck by the motorcycle after being called to Wrekin College following complaints.

Telford police today appealed for witnesses to the incident, which senior officers say could have been much worse.

Inspector Richard Langton said: "It could have been a young family they encountered.

"Zoe was x-rayed and luckily there are no broken bones, but there is a lot of bruising and a few cuts and grazes."

Two men were arrested close to the scene and have been released on police bail after questioning.

Inspector Langton said CSO Beven and CSE Shane Goodman had gone to Wrekin College in response to a complaint from a member of the public about motorcycles being ridden illegally around the school field off Sutherland Road in Wellington.

Inspector Langton added: "They were suddenly confronted face to face by someone riding a mini motorbike and another person on a full size 125cc trials bike.

"The rider of the full size bike sped away and Zoe was knocked flying. We know a lot of people will have seen the motorbikes and some might have seen this incident."

The drama, at around 3pm yesterday, is the latest case of problem motorcyclists causing problems in the town.

Inspector Langton said: "This is very commonplace. The bikes are not licensed and they don't have insurance. This is a fairly regular call, but not just at Wrekin College. Nuisance motorcycles are a real problem."

Two motorcycles have been seized by officers.

Witnesses should call 101 and ask for Sgt Kevin Jones or Wellington police.
