Telford drug dealer admits police raid caught him red-handed
A drug dealer admitted he had been "caught red-handed" after police raided his house and found him holding a bag of cannabis and some measuring scales.
Colin Madourie was with three other men in his Telford flat when officers burst in last November.
He was holding more than £400 worth of cannabis in his hand and told them "I have been caught red-handed", Shrewsbury Crown Court heard yesterday.
Madourie, 41, of Hills Lane Drive, in Madeley, Telford, was handed a 10-month suspended prison sentence.
The father-of-one admitted one count of possession of a class B drug with intent to supply and one count of possession of a class B drug at a previous hearing.
The court heard that on November 23 last year police arrived at Madourie's previous address in Springhill Crescent.
Sally Cairns, prosecuting, said: "Police could smell a strong smell of cannabis.
"They went inside the flat and saw the defendant with three other men. Colin Madourie had a bag of cannabis in his hand and was also holding some scales. Around £425 was found on Mr
Madourie as well as another bag of cannabis. The defendant then made the comment 'I have been caught red-handed.' In interview Madourie admitted selling cannabis to friends."
Madourie was found with 44.78 grams of cannabis, which has a street value of around £640.
It was then revealed Madourie was caught in possession of £30 worth of cannabis on April 26 while at his girlfriend's address in Madeley. Madourie was on police bail for the first offence at the time.
Nigel Stelling, mitigating, said his defendant sold cannabis to fund his own addiction to the drug but has now overcome that addiction.
Recorder Stuart Sprawson gave Madourie a 10-month prison sentence for charges suspended for two years and ordered him to complete 150 hours unpaid work and a drug rehabilitation programme.
