Following a call from a member of the public, officers from Madeley police, assisted by officers from Brookside, raided a unit on Halesfield 5 yesterday and made three arrests, seizing a quantity of cannabis.

Chris Ammonds, spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "We received a call from a member of the public and we executed a warrant at Halesfield 5.

"Two men aged 36 and another aged 40 have been arrested on suspicion of production or cultivation of cannabis. They remain in custody at this time and inquiries are ongoing."

Meanwhile, police targeted a home in Market Drayton in a drugs raid yesterday.

Police also took to Twitter to show any would-be drug-dealers their actions will not be tolerated.

Both the Market Drayton and North Shropshire Safer Neighbourhood Teams posted pictures and messages online to show the affects of a dawn drugs raid which took place at a home in Oakfield Road in Market Drayton yesterday.

Pictures of a front door ripped from its hinges as well as bags suspected to contain cannabis and cocaine were posted on the social networking site.

The police also tweeted a thanks to the public for supplying them with information that led to a warrant being approved to search the home.

A 30-year-old man and 33-year-old woman were arrested following the raid which involved 12 officers from Market Drayton, Whitchurch and Wem. It took place at 6.30am. They are in custody at Shrewsbury police station on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply.

Sergeant Claire Greenaway, who led the operation, said a quantity of cannabis worth around £800 together with suspected cocaine worth £300 or £400 were found.

A substantial sum of cash, various items of equipment and a mini moto bike believed stolen from Merseyside, were also seized.

Sgt Greenaway added the raid was the third in Market Drayton in recent weeks.

She said: "We received information from members of the public which helped us prepare today's action.

"There is huge concern in the Market Drayton community about illegal drugs and we are responding to those concerns."

Earlier this week Sergeant Lee Johnson of West Mercia Police apologised to people living in Oswestry about noise and disruption caused when the police helicopter and officers on the ground tracked two suspects during an early morning pursuit.
